Meet the Mezzo Team
Founder / Skipper
Chris Adamson left school after attaining A levels and moved out to Australia to study as a Yachtmaster for both Sail and Motor. At 19 he became one of the youngest people to achieve this accolade in England.
During his training, Chris sailed various vessels on the East Coast of Australia up to the Whitsunday Islands, and clocked up many thousands of miles in the process.
This experience has served him well for the time he’s skippered the Mezzo Magic fleet, and you couldn’t be in safer hands when it comes to navigating the turquiose Mediterranean waters.
After his academic success, Chris went back to Southampton to study again and has also achieved the status of RYA Cruising Instructor for Yachts, and more recently RYA Yachtmaster for Motorboats
Office Manager and Marketing
Having been educated at Eton and with a few A levels up my sleeve, I chose to undertake a management degree in Oxford and, not too keen giving up my “eclectic” lifestyle in Oxford, spent another couple of years completing a Business course at the Oxford School of Business. I was then lucky enough to be approached and offered a job as project manager for a complete renovation of the Sultan of Oman’s chateau in Fontainbleu du Pont, France, which proved to an excellent year’s work. Back in the Blighty, I decided that, possibly, a career in the stock market might be interesting, so I completed my F.S.A course, only to find that this was not really my vocation! Next up was a move to Lavender Hill, in London, where I worked for an electricity company for a short while, before becoming a wine broker for City Vintners and London City Bond. This all worked well, until I got a call from an old friend one Sunday morning, while trying to have a lie in with my girlfriend. He was to offer me a position as an estate agent in Mallorca! First thoughts…………….Not a Chance! I thought Mallorca was Magaluf, and we all know what we think of estate agents!! I was convinced by him that Soller was not Magaluf and that the estate agency world in Mallorca is far different from that in the U.K, so, still being quite young, I thought I would give it a go, for a year (back in May, 2002!!). 12 years later, and having thoroughly enjoyed 99% of the job, it was time to bring that chapter to an end. Cue Chris, who had been running his yacht Charter company from his mobile phone and laptop for over 10 years, and had decided to move thing on and open an office in the Port. He was looking for an efficient, well presented people person to run it. Sadly, this guy was unavailable, so here I am!
Grant started sailing dinghys on the River Tay in Scotland when he was a teenager. Having left school he promptly signed up to a record label and hit the road for a number of years before settling into a music based office job. Seeking to get out from behind the desk, he rediscovered sailing in his mid thirties and travelled to Gibraltar to complete his RYA qualifications, moving out to Mallorca in 2011 to start a new career with Mezzo Magic. In his first year he specialised in running watersport activities on the RIB and has since moved on to skipper all of our sailing boats, making many friends and lasting relationships along the way. Most people refer to Grant as ‘boyfriend material’ due to his sophisticated charm, wit and rugged good looks. In his spare time, Grant likes to imagine being a party DJ and dabbles in photography and graphic design. Favourite food : Deep Fried Mars Bar. Favourite Music : Anything that sells in large quantities.
High I’m Maxime Verbist capitán Tramuntana,
Born in Belgium and traveled the world. Started sailing thanx to a good old friend Douwe from Friesland that i met on an island participating for the television game survivor.
One day he called me op and told me , hey you crazy man you want some adventure’ And I say yes bring it on . so there I left for my first ever sailing trip from Amsterdam to Lisbon a amazing square schooner . nervous as a little kid making my first steps out at sea. Felt like a pirate free as a bird in harmony with the wind and the waves .Loved it and ever since sailed the high seas crossed the Atlantic few times.
Till one little storm steered me and my small boat in to port Soller , where I met my wife literally the same day setting foot in the port.
As the seas and the salt air called me whispering my ears I started chartering around Mallorca , Croatia and the Greec islands .
Love sailing the Tramuntana coast line , as its my home now .
Do you want to know where I hide my treasures?
Come and sail with us as we let you experience our little magic spots and let your dreams and relaxation let you flow over the horizon..
Sven Van Sweden
My name is Sven van Sweeden (from the Netherlands) 😉
I have been sailing since I was a little kid my Dad build his own sailing-boat from a rescue rowing boat in the back garden which was then lifted over the house and into the river towards the harbour.
I learned from my father and was able to sail the little 24ft from an early age.
The yacht got traded in to bigger sailing yachts and we embarked on multiple channel crossings.
I joined a sailing school and gained my Dutch vaarbewijs 1 and 2 plus my ICC then I started working for a Dutch sailing organisation Berend Botje. Every season for 6 years I was out with them first as Charter Skipper and later on Flottilla leader in Greece and Croatia.
I then moved to Scotland and started in the sailing club with my “Schakel” I was on the river Tay allot sailing my dingy to all the wonderful places.
After that I upgraded to a “Waarschip” I sailed from the Tayport harbour 2 min walk from my house in Scotland.
Also I went from my University job to a job on the water. With the Sea Mammal research unit from St Andrews University in order to drive the rib I gained my Powerboat level two and advanced powerboat all commercially endorsed. That got me jobs on the water like safety boat for the new Forth road crossing, Crew transfers and on work barges.
It was in Scotland that I met Grant at a gig from one of our friends. We had a chat on setting up the light design for their next big show but between the lines Grant mentioned the charter skipper job in Mallorca. I took the invite of coming over for a holiday and crew on the yacht.
Three days later Chris offered me the job and I never looked back.
Join me for a fantastic day out on the water my passion is sharing this stunning adventure with you.
Ina was born and raised in Belgium, not by the sea, but was introduced to sailing through friends and family. It was clear from a young age that she would not settle in Belgium, looking for a way to work and travel around the world. When she was asked to join a boat to cross the Atlantic ocean, aged 28, she didn’t have to think twice. The seed was planted and Ina spent the next twelve years sailing all over the world, from Finland to Antartica, and from New York to French Polynesia. With Palma de Mallorca being the beautiful island and the yachting hub that it is, it is no wonder that she decided to pose her bags and settle here.
Abbie grew up in England, in rural North Yorkshire. Having had horses since the age of 3, she developed a love of the outdoors and an active lifestyle. After qualifying as a Dental nurse in 2016 she decided she wanted to do something out of the ordinary and travel to see new places. After visiting Mallorca many times over the past few years to visit her family, she moved out here in March and obtained her yachting qualifications at sea school in Palma. She loves exploring the Mallorcan coastlines whilst ensuring that her guests have an experience just as amazing as the views surrounding them.
